In a symbolic event that marks a pivotal step in their academic journey, 76 interns from the Bachelor of Science in Criminology program at the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) took part in the “Sinag-Talas CL 2025-03” Pinning Ceremony on October 4,2024. Held at the SPAMAST Auditorium, Malita, Davao Occidental, the event celebrated the interns’ transition into actual training as they begin their journey toward becoming future enforcers.
With the theme “Lighting the Journey of High-Spirited Interns into Future Enforcers”, the ceremony brought together interns and their proud parents for an afternoon of recognition, encouragement, and inspiration. The event’s highlight was the keynote speech delivered by Ms. Josephine A. Balinawa, RCrim, a distinguished SPAMAST alumna and registered criminologist.
In her heartfelt message, Ms. Balinawa urged the interns to embrace their internship opportunities, emphasizing that real-world experience is a vital part of their personal and professional growth. “This is your chance to immerse yourself in the realities of the profession. Every opportunity to learn is an opportunity to grow,” she said.
She also encouraged the interns to approach their training with curiosity and confidence, advising them not to hesitate in asking questions. “Curiosity is a powerful tool. Never be ashamed to seek clarity. Each conversation, each question, will deepen your understanding of your future role,” Ms. Balinawa added. The message concluded with extending her warm congratulations to the interns, motivating them to embark on their journey with enthusiasm and an open heart.
This ceremony serves as a significant milestone for the Criminology interns, as they now prepare to engage in hands-on training that will equip them with the skills and experiences necessary to become future leaders in law enforcement.
