CPAR Team Conducts Site Visitation and Monitoring of Tilapia Grow-out in Davao Occidental

As part of the continuing implementation of the project entitled “Enabling Food Sufficient Community through Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) program”, a series of site visitations and monitoring activities were conducted in selected areas of Davao Occidental to assess the progress of tilapia grow-out operations of identified beneficiaries. The activity kicked off on March 31, 2025, in Sta. Maria, followed by visits on April 8 in Barangay Manuel Peralta, April 23 in Barangay Tingolo, and concluded on May 2 in Barangay Tical, Malita. These visits aimed to evaluate the performance of the tilapia production, inspect pond conditions, and provide technical support to ensure the project’s success.
The activity was led by CPAR Project Leader Mr. Kher Dave H. Doños, accompanied by Project Staff Ms. Anna May E. Baldomero, Agricultural Technologist Ms. Angela Jo Jocoy, and Agricultural technician Mr. Franz Jeemson Tan who provided technical assistance and hands-on recommendations during the monitoring. Beneficiaries were engaged in discussions regarding best management practices, feeding strategies, and pond water quality management.
These site visits reflect the CPAR project’s commitment to enhancing fish production and improving the livelihoods of local fish farmers through regular monitoring, technical support, and community-based collaboration. This initiative was conducted with the strong support of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), with continued guidance and support, the project envisions sustainable aquaculture practices that will uplift the socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries in Davao Occidental.
