Building a Stronger Mindanao: SPAMAST Joins Key Development Forum

The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) actively participated in the Mindanao Development Forum 2025 with the theme, “Strengthening Partnerships in Building a Better Mindanao” held on October 1-2, 2025 at the Grand Ballroom, Dusit Thani Residence Davao in Davao City.

Representing SPAMAST was Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, Vice-President for Research and Extension, who joined leaders from various sectors including government, academe, private industries, and civil society organizations to discuss strategies for inclusive and sustainable development in Mindanao.

The forum served as a platform for collaboration, bringing together stakeholders to align efforts in advancing peace, economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social equity in the region. Discussions highlighted the vital role of education and research institutions in shaping innovations and solutions that respond to the unique needs of Mindanao communities.

SPAMAST’s participation underscores its continuing commitment to research-driven development and extension programs that contribute to regional progress. As the institution strengthens partnerships with key organizations, it reaffirms its role as a catalyst for positive change in agriculture, fisheries, marine sciences, and community development.

The Mindanao Development Forum 2025 concluded with a unified call to action—building stronger networks and shared initiatives to create a more resilient and prosperous Mindanao. This initiative directly contributes to the attainment of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
