In observance of National Environmental Awareness Month, the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) held a convocation on November 4, 2024, at the SPAMAST Auditorium, Malita, Davao Occidental. With the theme “Empowering Communities Towards Cleaner Air,” the event aimed to foster environmental consciousness and encourage sustainable practices within the community.
Organized by the Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, led by Dean, Prof. John Paul Pacyao, the program began with a praise and worship session conducted by Dr. Ptr. Prudencio Coloma of Elim’s Fellowship, followed by the formal start of the convocation. Dr. Lynette A. A talk show featuring Mr. Jetroy Diaz, LDRRM Officer II, and Mr. Orlando Ang, Administrative Officer IV of the General Services Office of SPAMAST, served as a centerpiece of the event. Both guests, known as environmental advocates, shared their experiences and insights on natural resource protection and community safety, focusing on practical steps to ensure cleaner air and a healthier environment.
The convocation also included a message from Mr. Ludwig Federigan, Executive Director of the Young Environmental Forum, who called for increased youth engagement in environmental issues and emphasized the need for concerted efforts to combat pollution and protect the environment.
This event showed a significant step in SPAMAST’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, encouraging the community to act collectively for a cleaner, more sustainable world.
