Malita, Davao Occidental – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Malita, in collaboration with the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), successfully hosted Fire Square 2025, a fire prevention awareness event held at the SPAMAST Auditorium on March 11, 2025. This initiative, in line with the observance of Fire Prevention Month, aimed to educate students and faculty on essential fire safety measures and emergency preparedness.
The event commenced with an opening ceremony led by FSUPT Arthur Joseph C. Urquiza, who emphasized the significance of fire safety awareness in educational institutions. The highlight of the program was the keynote address delivered by SPAMAST President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, who underscored the shared responsibility of individuals and communities in preventing fire-related incidents. Adding to the informative discussions, BFP Malita personnel showcased different BFP uniforms, symbolizing the discipline and commitment of firefighters in public service.
A dynamic demonstration of fire prevention techniques and emergency fire escape procedures was conducted by BFP Malita officers, providing attendees with practical knowledge on how to respond effectively in fire-related situations. To further engage the audience, criminology interns from SPAMAST delivered a special intermission performance, reinforcing the importance of disaster readiness. The event concluded with closing remarks from FSINSP John Rex J. Playda, who reiterated the BFP’s commitment to fostering a fire-resilient community through continuous education and outreach programs.
