A Journey Worth Teaching: SPAMAST Honors Pre-service Teachers in Poignant Exit Conference

With a blend of pride and poignancy, the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) paid tribute to its pre-service teachers during the highly anticipated Exit Conference held on May 2, 2025, at the SPAMAST Auditorium. Bearing the theme “𝑨 𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈: 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑴𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆,” the half-day event was a culminating moment that honored the resilience, growth, and transformative journeys of education interns. From solemn AVP hymn presentations to heartfelt insights and ceremonial acknowledgments, the program stood as a resounding affirmation of the teaching profession’s enduring nobility.

The event commenced with a string of audiovisual presentations showcasing national and local pride through the Philippine National Anthem and various hymns. SIPP Coordinator Ms. Jessa Bella Mater delivered the opening remarks, setting an uplifting tone for the afternoon. President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia was duly represented by SPAMAST VPAF Dr. Edelyn S. Albiso, who shared a message underscoring the value of mentorship, perseverance, and service to learners. Practicum insights from pre-service teachers John Carl Berdin (BEEd) and Chelljoy Villegas (BSEd-Mathematics) provided a compelling, firsthand narrative of the struggles and victories they encountered in real classrooms—stories marked by humility, creativity, and resilience.

The voices of the community rang strong through the messages of Principal Mr. Ervil Charles J. Millan (MPNȞS), Principal Mrs. Elvira T. Failma (MCES), and Administrator Joeram A. Edianon (Sunrise Learning Center, Inc.), whose words reinforced the essential collaboration between schools and future educators. The ceremonial awarding of certificates—including the Best Actual Teaching Demonstration—served as tangible proof of the interns’ accomplishments.

As the event closed with gratitude from SESS President Emann Blanco and a spirited community singing, a palpable sense of fulfillment lingered in the air. With hearts alight and purpose renewed, these pre-service teachers now stand ready—not just to teach, but to inspire.
