The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region XI, in collaboration with Ideas Davao and the Wadhwani Foundation, successfully conducted the IDEAS PLUG IN training program at the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), Malita, Davao Occidental. The two-day event aimed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among students and faculty coaches.
The training commenced with a presentation of the activity’s rationale by Val Anthony Cimafranca of Ideas Davao. The Wadhwani Foundation also introduced its bootcamp, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among participants.
The first day featured a series of insightful lectures, including “Idea Spark: Fireside Chat with an Entrepreneur” and “Knowing Your Customer.” Participants also engaged in discussions on opportunity and competition mapping, prototype development, minimum viable product (MVP) creation, business modeling, financial management, and profitability. Additionally, a session on “Edge Ahead: Mastering Competitive Advantage” provided strategic insights for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Participants also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on team activities and mentoring sessions, allowing them to refine their ideas under the guidance of experienced mentors.
On the second day, students showcased their creativity and entrepreneurial potential through a pitching competition, where they presented their startup proposals. This activity aimed to encourage young minds to develop innovative solutions and prepare them for the challenges of the business world.
The IDEAS PLUG IN training program provided an invaluable learning experience for SPAMAST students, equipping them with essential entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. The collaboration between DICT Region XI, Ideas Davao, and the Wadhwani Foundation continues to pave the way for young innovators to thrive in the startup ecosystem.
