The Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) formally opened its Fiscal Year 2026 Calibrator’s Training Program on January 21 at the SPAMAST Lecture Hall, bringing together key administrative and human resource personnel to reinforce institutional performance management standards. The activity aimed to ensure fairness, consistency, and accuracy in employee performance evaluation—an essential pillar in promoting accountability and service excellence in public higher education. The program commenced with registration and preliminaries, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Chairperson of the Performance Management Team (PMT), who emphasized the importance of shared understanding and objectivity in appraisal systems.
The training featured in-depth presentations from Ms. Edel Quinn D. Casis, Planning Officer II; Ms. Aivey B. Braselino, Administrative Officer III; and Mr. Rey A. Bitol, Human Resource Management Officer I. Discussions centered on updated guidelines, evaluation tools, and institutional policies governing performance measurement and documentation. Organizers noted that these sessions were designed to equip calibrators with the technical competence needed to align individual targets with SPAMAST’s strategic goals and national civil service standards. Certificates of participation were distributed prior to the program’s conclusion, recognizing the commitment of participants to professional development and institutional integrity.
In her closing remarks, Ms. Casis, who also served as PMT Secretariat, underscored that the initiative reflects SPAMAST’s broader mandate to cultivate a results-driven academic workforce capable of responding to evolving educational demands. Beyond internal capacity-building, the training contributes to the realization of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthened institutional governance, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting fair and merit-based employment practices, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by advancing transparency and accountability in public service. Through programs such as this, SPAMAST continues to position itself as a proactive partner in national development and sustainable institutional reform.
